Event narrative

Snow squall. Visibility dropped to a quarter of a mile on the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) camera near exit 3 with snow accumulating on the highway.

Wider weather episode

Another clipper system moved across western Massachusetts during the evening hours on January 28 through the early morning hours on January 30, 2025. Moderate snowfall accumulations occurred across northern portions of Berkshire County where snowfall totals between 4 and 8 inches occurred. Lesser snow accumulations fell elsewhere. Strong winds developed once again on January 29 with widespread gusts between 40 and 55 mph with one instantaneous wind gust to 63 mph at the Pittsfield Airport. In addition, snow showers and localized snow squalls led to brief whiteout conditions, moderate to heavy snowfall rates and gusty winds on January 29.
