Event narrative
A 450 acre wildfire burned for several days in southern Benton County near Fristoe in the Granny's Acres Conservation Area. Local fire departments and the Missouri Department of Conservation worked for several days to put out the fire.
Wider weather episode
Gusty winds of 40-60mph occurred during the afternoon of March 14th. Afternoon relative humidity fell into the 10-20 percent range which led to extreme fire conditions. This led to power outages and numerous tree limbs down. Numerous grass and brush fires occurred due to the extreme fire behavior. A High Wind Warning was in effect for the area.
