A rare winter storm produced significant accumulations of snow and sleet across Berkeley County. Storm total snow/sleet accumulations were 3.0-4.0 inches across Tidal Berkeley County. Reported totals include a CoCoRaHS observation of 3.5 inches and a public report of 3.0 inches on Daniel Island.

Wider weather episode

A prolonged period of widespread precipitation fell across southeast South Carolina in the presence of an arctic airmass, beginning in the late afternoon hours and continuing after sunrise the following morning. The setup resulted in a rare winter storm across the region, with all of southeast South Carolina being impacted by significant accumulations of snow and sleet. Temperatures remained cold for several days following the end of the winter weather, so impacts continued for an extended period of time. Hazardous travel conditions persisted for several days as well, causing significant disruptions across the region.
