Snowfall of 2 to 4 inches along SR247 in Lucerne and Johnson Valleys of the High Desert. This is rare snowfall accumulation despite elevations 3000 to 5000 feet.
Wider weather episode
The dry weather pattern with 7 Santa Ana wind events in January finally broke and gave way to a cold Pacific storm in late January. This produced widespread precipitation and heavy snowfall in the mountains. There was 6 to 16 inches of new snow in the San Bernardino mountains above 5000 feet. 3 to 6 inches of snow occurred in the San Jacinto mountains January 26-27 and up to 10 inches in Palomar mountain.
