Moisture and lift associated with low pressure developing along the Gulf Coast overspread the Southeast and combined with cold surface high pressure to result in development of snow across the southern Blue Ridge escarpment during the morning of the 10th, continuing through the afternoon. The snow mixed with and briefly changed to sleet during the late afternoon and evening before ending. Total snow accumulations were generally 2-3 inches, with sleet accumulation of around 1/2 inch reported on top of the snow.
