Winter Storm — Union, South Carolina
2025-01-10 to 2025-01-11 · Union, South Carolina
Wider weather episode
Moisture and lift associated with low pressure developing along the Gulf Coast overspread the Southeast and combined with cold surface high pressure to result in development of snow and sleet across the South Carolina Piedmont during early afternoon. The precipitation gradually accumulated, with half inch to an inch of sleet and snow reported across the area by early evening. At that point, warming temperatures aloft resulted in a transition to freezing rain, which persisted through the evening before tapering off during the early morning. Total ice accretion of around 1/4 inch was reported on top of the sleet and snow.
