Event narrative

Heavy snow totaling 3 to 4 inches occurred across Boyle County. In addition, ice accumulation exceeding 0.25 inches occurred.

Wider weather episode

A major winter storm impacted central Kentucky on January 5-6, 2025. When all was said and done, the storm had dropped a swath of heavy snow and sleet ranging between 6 and 12 inches across northern Kentucky. In addition, damaging amounts of ice between 0.25 to 0.75 inches were noted across much of Kentucky. Nearly 100,000 people were without power by Monday morning. The storm then ended Monday afternoon with one last round of snow ranging between 1 to 3 inches. By Monday night, many area roads and streets were still snow and ice covered, with close to 50,000 people still without power. A several day stretch of intense cold then followed the storm, adding to the impacts from the storm.
