Widespread extreme cold conditions moved into the Lower Snake Plain on the morning of the 20th. Widespread -20 below or colder apparent temperatures readings were recorded. The coldest were -28 in Blackfoot -26 in Gibson.
Wider weather episode
A strong Canadian cold front brought the coldest temperatures of the winter season to southeast Idaho. Several apparent temperature readings of -20 to -55 degrees were recorded after midnight through mid morning on the 20th.
