Event narrative

Extreme(D3) drought continued over the far southeast portion of the zone while areas across the north transitioned from Moderate(D1) drought to mainly Severe(D2) drought. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer reported 0.11 inches of precipitation which was 0.95 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Little to no precipitation fell in February which lead to many areas seeing worsening drought conditions in southern New Mexico.
