Wind gusts of up to 37 knots (43 MPH) were measured by the ASOS at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) adjacent to the tidal Potomac River.

A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms crossed the tidal Potomac River resulting in gale- to storm-force wind gusts. Later that evening, squalls associated with a strong cold front resulted in a rapid onset of gale-force winds.
