A wind gust of 40 knots (46 MPH) was measured by a Tempest station on East Randall Street adjacent to the tidal Patapsco River.
Wider weather episode
A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms crossed the tidal Potomac River resulting in gale- to storm-force wind gusts. Later that evening, squalls associated with a strong cold front resulted in a rapid onset of gale-force winds.
