Winter Weather in Bowie, Texas

Winter Weather January 9, 2025 – January 10, 2025 · Bowie, Texas

The wider storm

A strong surge of Arctic air invaded Northeast Texas during early January with bitterly cold temperatures and a mix of sleet, snow and ice accumulations that began during the early morning hours of January 9th and continued into January 10th. Overall, total sleet amounts ranged from around one tenth to one half inch while snow accumulations were very isolated around one half inch. Freezing rain and ice accumulations generally ranged between one hundredth to one tenth of an inch. Given these very light amounts of sleet, snow and ice, impacts to travel were rather minimal despite the plummeting temperatures in wake of the Arctic air intrusion during this winter weather event.
