What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

The wider storm

An upper-level trough crossed the Four Corners region and dipped into northern Mexico on February 14, 2025. A warm front quickly accelerated northward into the Mid-South during the morning of February 15, 2025, as surface low pressure traversed the Southern Plains. The front stalled across the northern parts of the Mid-South. The airmass south of the warm front destabilized during the afternoon hours on February 15th. As the surface low tracked into the Mid-South a line of severe storms developed and pushed across the region during the evening hours of February 15th exiting into Middle Tennessee and northern Alabama by midnight. Damaging winds, large hail, and a few weak tornadoes occurred.

Began near Shannon (34.0809, -88.8233).
