Event narrative

Freezing rain was observed along the higher elevation of southern Lake County during the afternoon and evening. A location about 20 miles north of Two Harbors measured 0.33 inches of ice accumulation during the event.

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure moved across southern Minnesota the 28th into the 29th and brought rain and a few thunderstorms to the Northland. A few of the storms produced hail to the size of quarters during the afternoon. Additionally, a pocket of cold air along the North Shore led to freezing rain across mainly parts of Lake County during the late afternoon and evening of the 28th where up to 0.33 inches of ice accumulation was observed.
