The wind gust was recorded at the Frisco Woods- XFRI WeatherFlow Station.

A slow moving cold front that had crossed across Eastern North Carolina in the morning hours of March seventeenth stalled briefly offshore during the afternoon and evening hours on the same day. As this occurred a surface low developed along the front and then pushed north and eastward overnight on the seventeenth. As this low pulled away, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms developed across the Pamlico Sound and near the coastal waters between Ocracoke and Oregon Inlet. Showers and thunderstorms quickly pulled away from Eastern North Carolina coastal waters during the overnight hours of March seventeenth. Within the strongest storms, strong wind gusts, frequent lightning, and locally enhanced seas developed.
