Wider weather episode

An upper level system moving east across the Rocky Mountains on Saturday January 4th began to dig southward a it moved into the Central Plains. A cold front associated with this system tracked across Texas into Louisiana. A line of showers and thunderstorms developed along this boundary from the ample vertical lift it provided. However, instability was weakening as the front reached southeast Louisiana. One storm was still strong enough to produced a severe marine wind gust at the Lakefront Airport in New Orleans.
