Event narrative

Heavy rain in the Anchor River basin brought river levels up quickly and flooded many areas along the river between Anchor Point and Homer. The Blackwater Bend area reported water over the Sterling Highway. Additional severe flooding was reported on Anchor Point Road near the Old Sterling Highway as water reactivated ice in the Anchor River, causing an ice jam. Over a foot of water spread over Anchor Point Road, which closed access to homes along the road. The entire Anchor River Campground was flooded as well.

Wider weather episode

Heavy rain in the Anchor River Basin caused additional rises on the Anchor River, from areas just north of Homer to Anchor Point.
