Trained spotters reported a quarter inch of ice on tree branches and cables.

An area of low pressure over the northeast Gulf and off the southeast coast of the United States tracked off the coast of the Carolinas. This system combined with Arctic air brought snowfall across the Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain and freezing rain over the Sandhills to southern Coastal Plain.
