Snowfall of 2 to 3 inches fell across Wilson County, highest near the town of New Hope.

An area of low pressure over the northeast Gulf and off the southeast coast of the United States tracked off the coast of the Carolinas. This system combined with Arctic air brought snowfall across the Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain and freezing rain over the Sandhills to southern Coastal Plain.
