2025-02-02 to 2025-02-05 · Eastern Lemhi County, Idaho

Event narrative

Heavy snow fell initially, with up to 10 inches of accumulation near Gibbonsville and 8 inches in Salmon. During the day, melting snow caused water to accumulate on roadways, which turned to ice after dark due to ground temperatures remaining well below freezing. Lemhi County also reported icing on county roads. Lost Trail Pass recorded 24 inches of snow in the 48-hour period ending at 0500MST on February 5. A snow squall produced wind gusts up to 45 mph and heavy snow around 1000MST on the 5th, impacting northern Lemhi County.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm developed as moisture from the southwest overran an arctic cold front pushing in from the northeast, resulting in significant impacts across north-central Idaho.
