Multiple sensors in the zone measured wind chills of -35 or less, including mesonet station GW2112 CHESTER NW, which measured a -37 F wind chill.

Wider weather episode

Northerly surface winds in place combined with a northwesterly flow aloft east of an upper level ridge promoted the combination of cold temperatures and breezy winds across portions of the region. The combination allowed for wind chills to dip below 35 below in many locations.
