Two inches of snow measured on snow board at 2600 feet of elevation in Coeburn during a heavy snow band at 4 AM LST. Spotter reported local roads were snow covered.

Wider weather episode

An upper trough helped power a 150 knot jet streak, which in turn powered isentropic lift, bringing light to heavy snow to portions of southwest Virginia, before an eventual transition to rain.
