A trained spotter in Dungannon reported a morning observation of 2.8 inches of snow, a CoCoRaHS observer at the same time reported 0.8 inches of snow and sleet in Fort Blackmore.

Wider weather episode

An upper trough helped power a 150 knot jet streak, which in turn powered isentropic lift, bringing light to heavy snow to portions of southwest Virginia, before an eventual transition to rain.
