Light snow fell over Washington County, eventually yielding a report of 4 inches of snow in Glade Spring. A 5 AM LST report from Abingdon reported 1 inch of snow and sleet on the ground with wintry mix falling and highly treacherous roads.

Wider weather episode

An upper trough helped power a 150 knot jet streak, which in turn powered isentropic lift, bringing light to heavy snow to portions of southwest Virginia, before an eventual transition to rain.
