Strong, westerly winds developed across western Massachusetts behind the passage of a cold front as amplifying surface high pressure approached from the Ohio Valley and a low pressure system strengthened east of the New England Coast. Peak wind gusts across Berkshire County ranged from around 40 to 55 miles per hour with a peak wind gust of 55 miles per hour at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport.
