The AWOS station at the Gogebic-Iron County Airport (KIWD) reported a wind chill of -29 at 8 AM on the 18th. THe MDOT Mesonet station at Wakefield reported a wind chill of -25 at 9:30 AM on the 18th.

An arctic airmass settling over the region produced some heavy lake effect snow and extreme cold conditions across much of the UP from the 15th through the 20th.
