Event narrative
The KCAG ASOS in Craig, CO recorded an approximately 5 hour period with visibility dropping as low as 1/4 mile, and climbing as high as 10 miles. For the majority of this period, visibility was less than 1 mile, but the transient nature of the fog allowed for those periods of significant improvement. Due to the isolated nature of this fog event, this was not a missed Dense Fog Advisory. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
In the wake of a winter storm that brought fresh snow to the central Yampa River Valley, pockets of dense fog developed early on the morning of February 18th. These pockets were generally isolated and transient.
