Dense Fog — Eastern Uinta Basin, Utah
2025-02-21 · Eastern Uinta Basin, Utah
Event narrative
The KVEL ASOS in Vernal recorded an approximately 1 hour period where visibility was reduced due to dense fog. This fog was transient, and dense fog with visibility of 1.4 mile or less lasted for about 20 minutes, while the remainder of the period saw visibility under 1 mile. After 10AM MST, the fog lifted. Due to the short period of dense fog and the localized nature, this does not count as a missed Dense Fog Advisory. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
The Eastern Uinta Basin had received some snow in the hours before dense fog developed on February 21st. However this fog was fairly transient, and the dense fog period lasted less than half an hour.
