AWOS station KTQK Scott City. Recorded wind speeds of 71 mph and sustained wind speeds was 54 mph.

A strengthening and deepening mid-latitude cyclone moved into and across the forecast area. Two distinct vorticity maximums were placed over the forecast area as strong cyclogenesis unfolded bringing very strong winds across the entire forecast area including multiple measurements of >70mph with the entire area in a high wind warning.
