Event narrative

Generally 3 to 7 inches of snow fell across the area with 3 to 5 inches on the west end at Craig and Maybell, and higher amounts of 6 to 7 inches on the east end around Hayden. 6.7 inches of snow was reported at the Hayden COOP. Winds gusted in the 25 to 50 mph range with a peak wind gust of 54 mph at the Craig-Moffat County Airport.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough and associated cold front moved across northwest Colorado, bringing moderate snowfall to the Elkhead and Park Mountains with lighter snow accumulations elsewhere. Enough cold air moved in across the north to allow for moderate snow across the eastern portions of the Central Yampa River Basin.
