Event narrative

Wind gust was recorded on a personal weather station near the Core Sound at Marshallberg. Report came in via WeatherFlow.

Wider weather episode

Surface low pressure over the Coastal Plain gradually tracked northeastwards through the afternoon and evening, eventually pushing off the coast of the Northern Outer Banks during the evening hours of April eleventh. As this occurred, associated upper level low and surface trough swept eastwards across the Coastal Plain and offshore behind this departing low pressure system during the evening hours on the eleventh as well. This upper low brought widely scattered showers and thunderstorms with its passage with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature. These storms mainly impacted the waters around the Crystal Coast bringing a damaging wind and hail threat to the area.
