Mission Lake Montana Mesonet site measured a 75 mph wind gust and multiple high sustained winds. ASOS station KCTB Cut Bank Airport also reported a high wind gust and high sustained winds.
Wider weather episode
A break down in the upper-level ridge brought strong mid-level winds and a strengthening pressure gradient across the Continental Divide. This brought strong surface winds to the Rocky Mountain Front, with these winds spreading out further east over time.
