AWOS station KHQG Hugoton recorded a wind gust of 59 mph.

A deep negatively tilted trough ejected into the central plains bringing a high wind event due to the sharp pressure gradient. Multiple reports of 70+ mph gusts were recorded and blowing dust reduced visibilities to below 1/4 miles in some areas.
