Heavy snow developed ahead of a system moving south of the area, and while there was a brief lull and some melting during afternoon of the 1st, wrap around snowfall looped back into western Minnesota. An observer 4 miles west of Clinton would record a multi day total of 9.5 inches, while the COOP observers 2 miles east southeast of Artichoke and in Wheaton would record 8 and 7.9 inches respectively.
