Two bouts of snow led to light snowfall accumulations across Sullivan County. A CoCoRaHS observer recorded 3.5 inches of snow near Oak Grove, another CoCoRaHS observer reported 2 inches of snow in Blountville, the public reported 3 inches of snow near South Holston Dam, 3 inches of snow near Bluff City, a trained spotter reported 2 inches of snow near Kingsport, and another trained spotter reported 2 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice in Colonial Heights.

Wider weather episode

A baroclinic cyclone originating near the Gulf and moving by to Tennessee's south, combined with a strong upper level jet, provided for two rounds of snow across East Tennessee.
