Light snow fell in Meigs County, a CoCoRaHS observer in Decatur reported 2.5 inches of snow, another in Ten Mile reported 2 inches of snow. The COOP observer in Decatur reported 2 inches of snow and light ice pellets. Finally a member of the public in Ten Mile reported 2.2 inches of snow.

Wider weather episode

A baroclinic cyclone originating near the Gulf and moving by to Tennessee's south, combined with a strong upper level jet, provided for two rounds of snow across East Tennessee.
