The ASOS at the South Texas Regional Airport at Hondo reported wind gusts of 59 mph.

A tight pressure gradient developed behind a strong cold front. As a result, strong winds developed. The post frontal air was much drier. The combination of strong winds and dry air resulted in critical fire weather conditions.
