Light snow fell during the early morning hours, and a CoCoRaHS observer in Madisonville reported 2 inches of snow. A CO-OP observer in Tellico Plains measured 1 inch of snowfall.

Wider weather episode

A baroclinic cyclone originating near the Gulf and moving by to Tennessee's south, combined with a strong upper level jet, provided for two rounds of snow across East Tennessee.
