Official observer observation at McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa was 1.9 inches event total snowfall. Additionally, CoCoRaHS observations were: 1.5 inches in Friendsville, 2 inches in Maryville, and 1.8 inches of snowfall in Walland.

A baroclinic cyclone originating near the Gulf and moving by to Tennessee's south, combined with a strong upper level jet, provided for two rounds of snow across East Tennessee.
