Two bouts of snow led to heavy snowfall in northwest Carter County, with a Shady Valley Facebook report of 4.5 inches with heavy snowfall at time of report being relayed. Elsewhere, 2.5 inches of snow was measured near Milligan College.

Wider weather episode

A baroclinic cyclone originating near the Gulf and moving by to Tennessee's south, combined with a strong upper level jet, provided for two rounds of snow across East Tennessee.
