Winds gusted in the 55-70 mph range with a CDOT sensor recording a 70 mph wind gust near Sterling. Other weather stations in Logan County reached 58 mph as well (Sterling ASOS and military observations over the norther part of the county).

Wider weather episode

Strong gusty winds developed over the eastern plains late in the morning on the 14th and continued into the afternoon hours as well. Some roads were closed across southeast Colorado including U.S. 40 on Lincoln County.
