The Assateague South Point mesonet station (XAST) measured a wind gust to 44 knots (51 miles per hour).

A deep trough over the Midwest and surface low near the Great Lakes brought a robust cold front into the Mid Atlantic region. A strongly-forced area of linear convection moved from west to east across the Chesapeake Bay and nearby rivers and eventually impacted the Atlantic coastal waters.
