The wider storm

A deep trough over the Midwest and surface low near the Great Lakes brought a robust cold front into the Mid Atlantic region. A strongly-forced area of linear convection moved from west to east across portions of northeast North Carolina. These storms mostly produced strong to severe straight line wind gusts.
