Montana mesonet station Bynum W (acebynum) measured an 81 mph gust and high sustained winds. Mesonet station DELMT Dellwo (MCSCN) also reported high wind gusts and high sustained winds. Mesonet station DVI01084 Dupuyer, Mesonet station MTM49 6.9 NE Choteau (MT-MESO), and Mesonet station MTPND Pendroy (MT DOT) reported high wind gusts.

Wider weather episode

A break down in the upper-level ridge brought strong mid-level winds and a strengthening pressure gradient across the Continental Divide. This brought strong surface winds to the Rocky Mountain Front, with these winds spreading out further east over time.
