Event narrative

A snowfall total of 5.1 inches was reported about eight miles northeast of Lyons. Based on additional reports, around 1 to 5 inches of snow occurred across Rice County with the highest amounts occurring across the northeast portions of the county.

Wider weather episode

A swath of mostly light snow impacted much of the area with many locations generally seeing around two to five inches of snow accumulations from the 11th through the 12th. While accumulations remained on the lighter side, there were still travel impacts and school closures that occurred across the region.
