With the frontal passage at the RAWS station, WDPT2 Wolf Den DMP, in the Davis Mountains, a maximum wind gust of 60 MPH was recorded.
Wider weather episode
A quickly strengthening area of surface low pressure over eastern Colorado ahead of a potent trough pushed a strong front through the region. During the evening and early overnight hours, high winds behind this front were recorded across southeast New Mexico and the higher elevations of West Texas.
