A maximum wind gust of 85 mph was recorded at the West Texas Mesonet site, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, near Guadalupe Pass.
The wider storm
A quickly strengthening area of surface low pressure over eastern Colorado ahead of a potent trough pushed a strong front through the region. During the evening and early overnight hours, high winds behind this front were recorded across southeast New Mexico and the higher elevations of West Texas.
