A maximum wind gust of 66 MPH was recorded at the RAWS station, PSGT2 Pinery, in the Guadalupe Mountains.
Wider weather episode
A quickly strengthening area of surface low pressure over eastern Colorado ahead of a potent trough pushed a strong front through the region. During the evening and early overnight hours, high winds behind this front were recorded across southeast New Mexico and the higher elevations of West Texas.
