A maximum wind gust of 74 MPH was recorded at the West Texas Mesonet site, Pine Springs National Park, near Guadalupe Pass.

As a strengthening low pressure system continued to move into the Upper Midwest, strong west winds overspread much of the southern Great Plains. A strong westerly jet streak behind this developing weather system aided these winds.
