Heavy rain caused Joachim Creek to rise out of its banks near Crystal City and Valles Mill and caused Saline Creek to rise out of its banks in Jefferson County west of Fults, IL. Up to 7 inches of rain fell in portions of Jefferson County between April 4th and the evening of April 5th.
Wider weather episode
A stationary front over southern Missouri along with ample mid-level forcing, moisture, and efficient rain processes resulted in flooding across portions of east-central and southeast Missouri. Numerous roads across the St. Louis metropolitan area were impassable due to the heavy rainfall.
